In 1978, the bodybuilding department of Slavia Minerva Opava laid the foundation of the tradition of a new competition in bodybuilding in the Czechoslovak Republic – the Grand Prix of Opava. But in 1980, the competition did not take place. In 1981, the competition was held again for the third year, and from a regional competition it became a significant competition in the republic. After 1990, the competition continues under a new name – Grand Prix PEPA Opava and still under the leadership of Stanislav Pešát and his experienced team. PEPA is the name of Fitness PEPA in Opava, which Standa Pešát opened in 1990. During more than 40 years, a number of the best Czech representatives and many world and European champions - later professionals - have appeared at the competition. This year, on October 28, 2023, the 45th edition of the competition will take place in the beautiful premises of the Silesian Theatre. Top Czech and European fighters in bodybuilding and fitness will once again come to Opava.
